Introduction
DHD was engaged to replace the bearings on two Evapco Closed Circuit Cooling Towers at a consumer goods manufacturing plant.
Over time, the bearings had become increasingly noisy due to wear and age, leading to complaints from nearby residential areas. To address this, DHD executed a structured replacement plan to minimize disruption while restoring optimal cooling tower operation.
The Challenge
Strict Time Constraints: All work had to be completed over two weekends to avoid interference with the plant’s production schedule.
Corrosion & Component Wear: Due to the age of the cooling towers, corrosion on the fan shafts made bearing removal challenging.
Logistics & Equipment: Ensuring all necessary tools and personnel were on-site to manage potential difficulties with disassembly.
Tower One required a complete bearing replacement along with a new taper-lock bush and pulley, while Tower Two required new bearings to be installed.
